Never share extra personal details. Sometimes, collectors try to get you to verify info about yourself. If they mention stuff that isn’t yours, like an address or number you don’t recognise, don’t fix their mistake by giving them the correct info. Also, avoid sharing any other personal facts. If the debt’s not yours but they get accurate details from you now, it might be tougher to argue the debt isn’t yours later on.
