So I decided to ring them back and we ended up having a bit of banter. The bloke, sounded Indian or something, said he’d be passing my details on to the press and mentioned Big Ben. I fired back saying I could spot big Darren, big Duke, and big Gordon just strolling over. After that, he just hung up and doesn’t pick up when I ring now.

Got a phone call from someone claiming to be from HMRC. They wanted me to verify my name and address. I told them they couldn’t be HMRC because they never phone like that. Then the person on the line got really rude and started threatening that the police and an investigator were coming to my place! It left me feeling really stressed and anxious.

On the morning of 16th June, around 10:10, this number 0798823944 rang me up with some recorded message claiming to be from HMRC saying I was under investigation for dodging taxes. I hung up straight away since I had a similar call a few weeks earlier and learned it was a con.

Got a voicemail from someone claiming to be from HMRC, saying I was being looked into for tax evasion and I needed to get back to them straight away. But since I’m on PAYE, it sounded dodgy. Didn’t bother returning the call after seeing what everyone else said here.

They've called me about five times so far. When I called back, an Indian woman picked up and wanted me to give my full name. I told her no way, and asked why they called me in the first place. I got a call from 07988239444, some bloke said his name was John Thompson, then handed me over to a woman called Michelle Young. They started accusing me of tax evasion out of nowhere! When I asked for details about what exactly I was supposed to have done, they couldn’t give me a straight answer. I’m proper angry about the whole thing. I’ve always sorted my taxes properly and refuse to pay anything I don’t owe. Then Michelle just called me a load of rubbish and slammed the phone down on me. Completely ridiculous.

I got a call from 07988239444 saying the police were coming for tax evasion. I tried telling them I’m on disability benefits and don’t owe any tax, but the person on the phone just started shouting, saying the police were on their way to arrest me this minute. Honestly, they should be the ones arrested - I’ve got a serious heart condition and this kind of thing is just cruel.
