Got a call from an Indian guy claiming he was ringing from British Gas, asked me to confirm my name. I told him I’m registered with TPS, and he just went on asking if I was with British Gas. I told him he shouldn’t be making unsolicited calls and to remove me from their list, but he said he couldn’t do that unless I told him who my energy provider was. I just ended the call. Seriously, can’t anyone take action against these annoying calls? It’s so frustrating and upsetting!

Got calls from this number 9 times today alone, all between 8:30 and 2:15pm. Every time we answered early on, there was just dead silence. We’ve gone ahead and blocked it now. Definitely seems like a scammer.

They ring me almost all day, like twice or more from 8:15 in the morning right up to now at 4:30pm. So far, I’ve had 5 calls and I just don’t pick up. I usually get about 10 calls daily from different numbers. My mates and family always call my mobile instead. When I listen to my answerphone, there’s never any messages left by these callers.

Spoke really fast with an Indian accent and his words were hard to catch. He kept saying he was sending me something but I couldn’t make out what exactly. Told him I didn’t understand and then just hung up.

Also, a little tip, you should tell the ICO too. They recently did a bust on a London company making annoying calls, I saw it on their homepage. They actually can do raids and make arrests.

Got a call from someone claiming they could help with PPI claims.

Same here. Loads of call centres in India seem to have dodgy people working there, trying to trick folks into handing over their bank info. Just do a quick search for ‘phone scam arrest’ and you’ll find plenty who have been caught. I doubt this will stop anytime soon, probably because it’s a big organisation behind it. But hopefully, more arrests will come through in the next months or even years. Best thing to do is report them and avoid chatting, but if you do end up speaking to one, try to record the conversation - it might help with proof later on.

got two calls within half an hour, from a guy with an asian accent claiming to be trevor roberts (bit dodgy name tbh) - hard to catch what he was saying with loads of background chit-chat like a call centre. He asked to confirm my age bracket, if i still used british gas for energy, and whether i pay by direct debit. I just said 'yeah' to everything (fibbed as I dont even have a british gas account and gave the wrong age) and he seemed satisfied, prolly glad I didnt tell him to jog on.
