This number sent me a message saying I was owed a tax refund. I knew right away it was a scam, but now HMRC have apparently started looking into this so-called refund “claim” despite me never making one.

Got a text the other day from some bloke pretending to be HMRC, saying I had a tax rebate of £607.72 waiting for me. They wanted me to click a link in the message. Thing is, I don’t even pay tax, so I instantly knew it was one of those dodgy scams.
