Somebody rang me claiming to be from Amazon and asked if I’d ordered an iPhone 15. They didn’t use my name or give any proper details like a real company would, so I just hung up. Shortly after, I got a security code via text from Amazon. I’m fairly sure their plan was to say someone was using my account without permission, then get me to read out that code - the kind you get when resetting a password - so they could take control of my account and lock me out. I’ve seen stuff about these scams on TV before and immediately spotted what was going on.
