Definately spam. Loads of people here reckon this number’s from NHS Wales, but turns out they’re also pushing sales for your nearby paintball place. Best thing to do is just block & delete it, cause it’s some dodgy scammer attempting to con folks who don’t deserve it.

The fake texts usually show both English and Welsh, but won’t have a proper mobile number. Plus, if you call the number back, it just goes to voicemail because it’s probably a spoofed phone that’s switched off.

Like a few folks here, I felt it was pretty dodgy since there weren't any extra links or details, and the number was totally different from before. Bit confused cos my partner, who’s older and had his jabs before me, hasn’t got any message about his booster at all. The message did say my name, so not sure if it’s legit. I sent them an email to check, and it turns out it’s genuine. Here’s the reply they sent me: Hope you’re doing well. Texts will be sent from NHS Wales or the number 07984405174, so if that’s who the message came from, it’s legit. We’ve started using a two-way texting system to arrange booster jab appointments. Yeah, it really is Cardiff and Vale University Health Board calling, even though it seems a bit sketchy at first. Their booking system isn’t the best, so just a heads up - if you attempt to change your booster jab appointment, you’ll get only 10 minutes to accept the new date and time. If you don’t reply in that short window, it automatically puts you back on your original slot!

Got a message yesterday about booking a covid jab. It was just in English, not Welsh, and came from a random mobile number. There wasn’t any number or email to change or cancel the appointment, which felt a bit dodgy. I’ve sent pics of the text to the health board’s vax centre email to check if it’s legit.

Got a call from this number yesterday lunchtime telling me I had to visit the centre in the Bay area, which confused me since the closest MVC is just around the corner from me. Like others mentioned, the call was from a mobile and they only spoke English. Before the vaccine rollout, I used to get official letters sent to my house with my full name on them. I’m guessing this is some sort of scam or fraud, but honestly, I can’t figure out what their goal would be with this.

I left a comment before but wanted to share an update from this morning (13/12/21). I popped down to the covid jab centre I usually go to and asked if the text about a COVID booster invite was legit. The manager told me it definitely was! Apparently, NHS Wales (I’m in Barry, Vale of Glamorgan) has just started this new approach to get people booked in quickly for their boosters. She even checked and saw I was booked for the 23rd of December but kindly moved it to a date in January that suited me better. I also mentioned that some folks thought it was a scam because NHS Wales usually sends bilingual emails. She said she'd feed that back to them. If you get one of these messages, I’d say just visit your local vaccination centre and ask to be sure. Hopefully that helps anyone unsure!

Just had a message from this number too… felt a bit dodgy since the genuine vaccine texts I got before came from “NHS Wales” and were in both Welsh and English. If it's legit, then Cardiff and Vale UHB really ought to have a dedicated webpage listing their official numbers and short codes to clear up any confusion. We've sent a report about the text to 7726 (if you’re with Vodafone, it’s 87726) to flag it as potential spam.

Tbh, this smells like a scam! For starters, they only use English. What if you're in Wales and expecting something from the NHS? Surely they’d include Welsh too? Plus, the caller ID shows up as a private number rather than NHS Wales or anything official like that. Bit dodgy if you ask me.

Got a message from Cardiff and Vale UHB, all in English with no Welsh version, inviting me for a covid booster jab on 23rd of December. The text asked me to reply with '1' if I wanted to change the date. I did, and it confirmed it was moved to 24th December but said I had to text '1' again to confirm or else they’d assume I’d go on the 23rd. No other date options were offered. Now I’m feeling a bit sus about it, cos I’ve already had three covid vaccines (I’m immunocompromised), but figured maybe the government was giving extra doses to vulnerable people. I didn’t give any bank details or click on any links, but I don’t really get what was going on. Tried calling the number back and it said it’s been disconnected, which makes me more worried. Could this be a scam?
