Got a text from 07983874860 saying something like: 'by SMSCaster[###]: Royal Mail: You Have A £2.99 Unpaid Shipping Fee, Kindly Pay Now At [#]missedparcelretry[###] Or Your Package Will Be Ret' - I've copied it precisely as it came. The message is full of weird capital letters, no proper punctuation and it just cuts off at 'Ret', which probably was supposed to say 'Returned'.

I'm rather worried that some folks might fall for this nonsense, especially as I’ve received messages from a different number quite recently, all dodgy and related but none actually from Royal Mail. They all included links to click on, naturally. Stay sharp, everyone! Don’t click on anything or respond; just report these scams. Here’s the exact message that popped up on my screen: "Royal Mail: Your package has an unpaid shipping charge of £2.99. Please make payment at ..." If you ignore this, your parcel will be returned!

It said I owed £2.99 for shipping or my parcel would be sent back. If that was true, Royal Mail usually leaves a note to sort out the payment when you collect it or sends one back with the payment.
