I’ve gotten three messages from this con artist just this year. I handed the details over to the police so they might be able to trap these scammers. Honestly, just block and report them straight away. You can also send a report with your area info on this site to help the cops track them down.

Just today I replied to a message before asking my son or searching online first. Now it’s been about four hours and I haven’t gotten any reply back at all. Not sure what trouble could really come from answering a single text though.

Just got this weird message saying "Hi dad, my phone got nicked. Can you text me at +44 7983 667521? I’m on an old one now but I can only text 'cos the sound doesn’t work. X" Don’t fall for it, it’s definitely a scam. Best to ignore it.
