I got a recorded message saying there was an issue with my VISA and to press buttons for English or Chinese. If it was really about my immigration status, surely HMRC would send an official letter or email, not some automated call. I just hung up and haven’t heard from them since.

07979611737 called me, but I didn’t pick up since I didn’t recognise the number. Later, I checked the voicemail they left - it was only about 6 seconds long. There was a woman’s voice talking, I think in Chinese, with some kind of elevator music playing softly behind her. Felt like an automated message to me. Definitely seemed like one of those annoying spam calls, but I can’t understand a word as I don’t speak Chinese!
