A robotic male voice kicked in right after the system picked up sound from my phone. The number was unfamiliar, and I spotted that all but the last 3 digits matched my own, so I answered, waiting to hear what they’d say. After a short silence, I gave a sharp "Hello," expecting a scam, and then their mumbling message started. It was probably some HMRC-style scam that could alarm unsuspecting people! I ended the call after hearing just a few words since I don’t get calls from robots, and no one I know has an old Orange (now EE) 07976 number from the 90s.
