When I picked up the phone, there was a recorded message saying it was HMRC calling about unpaid taxes and that I should press 1 to proceed. The voice was robotic and the audio was quite poor. After pressing 1, I got through to someone pretending to work for HMRC. I asked where they were calling from and after a brief silence, they said Liverpool. Curious, I then asked about the weather and the time there but they just hung up on me. I tried calling the number back and it actually went to an innocent person who had no idea their number was being misused by scammers.

Just got a call which was definitely a phishing attempt. They tried to scare me by saying I owed some tax money and I needed to pay up quick. They kept pressing for more personal details to supposedly fix things, but I reckon they want to sell the info or use it for dodgy stuff. Glad I didn't let the call go on.
