Got a call from a woman with an Indian accent, claiming to be from a refund team about a mortgage I supposedly overpaid by about £2000 ages ago. She said she was ringing on behalf of the Financial Conduct Authority and that this refund was approved by the government. When I asked which company she was with, that was her answer. I questioned why they'd phone instead of sending a letter, and she promised a letter with a cheque would be sent after confirming a few simple details. I told her straight up it sounded like a scam, and she just cut me off. Blocked the number sharpish after that.
