I got a recorded message saying something like, "this is a call from the tax office regarding unpaid taxes..." and I just hung up straight away. It was obviously a scam. Funny enough, I saw a BBC show this morning warning about these supposed government calls. HMRC never phones you about unpaid tax - they always send a letter in the post. So if you get a call like this, just ignore it. I’ve already reported the number to my phone company as suspicious, blocked it, and deleted it. Definitely do the same if you get one of these calls.
