Got a call from this number here in the UK, the person claimed to be from HMRC but spoke with a strange American accent. They said I’d sent back a letter from them and threatened me with trouble, telling me to hang on the line to talk to someone about paying a fine right away. It’s clearly a scam but I can see how older folks might easily be tricked by this. Honestly, it’s terrible what some people stoop to just to make a quick bit of cash, proper shameful behaviour.
