Got calls from someone saying they were with Amazon Prime, warning about an auto renewal unless I called them back. Problem is, I don’t even have an Amazon Prime membership. They kept ringing, but I always got their voicemail. Bit irritating, but pretty obvious it was just a scam.

On Tuesday the 21st of July 2020 just after midday, at about 12:02pm, I received a call from this number. It was a recorded message saying it was from the tax office and that I supposedly had a warrant for my arrest. What a joke!

On Thursday 13th February 2020 at about 8.15 in the morning, I got a call on my mobile from a guy with an Asian accent. I’m based in Brighton, Sussex. He claimed there was an issue with my internet, which was odd because my laptop wasn’t even on - I told him this. I didn’t want to waste my time, so I told him straight I knew it was a scam and had better things to do. He cut the call off right away. Trevor H.

Got a call from some bloke saying he was with Virgin about hackers messing with my internet. When I asked a few questions, he said he’d need to cut off my internet and phone line, so I just said fine and ended the call. Of course, nothing changed at all. He didn’t even try to get my info, just jumped right into this ‘urgent’ tale. What a numpty! Honestly, I hope people aren’t daft enough to fall for this rubbish.

Today I got a call from 07969 124879, but thankfully I have an answerphone set up. I let it ring about six times before it picked up. The message starts with, "If you’re calling to try and sell me stuff, I’m not interested." Interestingly, the ringing stopped right after the message finished playing.

Got a ring from this number today, some bloke named Jonathan claimed there was an issue with my Microsoft and my computer. I told him I don't even own a computer, and after that, he just went quiet. So I just ended the call!

Got a call from a woman with an Indian accent who said she was from Virgin Media. She told me there’d been some strange activity on our internet and someone’s been downloading a ton of data. They didn’t even bother asking to speak to who owns the account. I told her straight away it was a scam, but she kept trying to argue. Got a call earlier today at about 8:15 in the morning from the Brighton area code 01273, but the number was a mobile - 07969 124879. The guy sounded Asian and had a bit of a foreign accent. He started going on about my internet router, asking me to do something with it. I told him I was just having my breakfast and wasn’t up for any nonsense or scams. He hung up straight away after that.

Just got a call from 07969124879, a guy with an Indian accent claiming to be from Virgin Media. He gave me some "licence number" and said there was an issue. He asked how many devices I have, and I told him if he was really from Virgin Media, he’d already know that. Then he wanted me to check my computer and read out the serial number and my mobile phone info. I told him straight up he wasn’t from Virgin Media. He threatened to cut off my broadband and phone, so I just dared him to do it. After shouting and swearing, he hung up on me.

They started asking about the lights on my router, which I know is a classic scam move. I told them straight up I didn’t believe they really worked for BT. Then they started swearing in a mix of Hindi and English before abruptly ending the call.

some bloke rang claiming he was from virgin broadband, but i don’t even use virgin services. he kept going about some issue with my router, and i played along initially. when he asked for access to what he said was my device, i told him straight up that virgin ain’t my provider. suddenly he started swearing heaps and then just hung up on me. watch out, don’t fall for this scammer!
