A chap rang me up claiming to be from the “Call Blocker department.” Strangely enough, he used a fictitious name I’d concocted during a previous encounter with a telemarketer. He inquired whether I experienced nuisance calls - oh, the irony! I responded affirmatively, partly in the hope he’d catch on. He proceeded to inform me that for the sum of £140.21, I could acquire a supposedly one-time purchase of a call blocker. He even threw in the rather grand title of the “Call Blocker 2600” for good measure. Curious, I hopped online and discovered that this gadget could be found in the range of £28 to £35 at various retailers. When I pressed him for the company’s address, he simply said it was in Boston. I questioned whether that was the Boston in the States, and just like that, he hung up - clearly not interested in a serious buyer!

Got a call on my mobile from a number I’ve never shared with anyone. I hardly ever turn it on, just keep it for emergencies, so it’s weird. None of my mates know this number either. I only saw who it was because I turned the phone on to see the battery level. Didn’t even get a voicemail or anything.
