Apologies everyone, I need to correct what I said earlier about the call on my work phone. I’d mixed this number up with another one and got it all wrong. Here’s what really happened: I got a call on my work mobile and answered as usual by giving my name. The automated message said something like, “This is Visa. A transaction of £719 has been made using your card. If this isn’t you, press 1 immediately.” I didn’t say anything and the call soon ended. Definitely a scammer pretending to be Visa.

My work phone rang and when I picked up and told them who I was, there was no response at all. No message was left, which made me think it was definitely some kind of scam. Legit callers usually leave a voicemail these days. I know these scammers avoid leaving messages because that could get them in trouble if recorded. I've blocked that number now to avoid any more bother.
