A guy with a strange RS accent rang me, claiming he was from BT - where I used to work, by the way. He wanted to know what internet speed I currently had, so I told him. Then he said he’d send me info on switching to their service. Since BT doesn’t cover my area at all, I asked where he was phoning from. He replied 81 Newgate Street, London, which is BT’s HQ. I mentioned that the head office staff don’t work outbound calls like this, as it’s done in call centres. When I asked for his employee ID, he basically told me to get lost and hung up. Quite dodgy if you ask me!
