Got a message from 'mum' saying her phone's busted and to reply on a different number. Total con artists, watch yourselves everyone!

Got a message early morning, around 8:05 on Saturday 5th August, saying "Hi Mum. I'm using a mate's phone coz I've broken mine, can you send a text to my new number?" Pretty dodgy if you ask me. I don’t have any kids and nobody ever calls me mum. No doubt this is a scam. They wanted me to text the number 447305072198 too. Definitely a scam alert!

I got a message claiming to be from my child, says "Hello mum, I'm using mate's phone coz I broke mine. Can you text me on this new number [above number]?" Don't fall for it, they're just trying to con you out of cash.

It’s a total scam. They pretend to be your mum texting you from a random number asking to contact them. Just don’t bother replying, block the number and report it straight away.
