So I got a call from some automated message saying it was HMRC. They told me a letter they sent got sent back to them and threatened legal steps if I didn’t press 1 to speak to someone. I was suspicious right away since HMRC wouldn’t ring from a mobile and definitely wouldn’t use a recorded message to get me to push a button. Pretty obvious scam to me. I didn’t press anything and the call just disconnected after a bit.

I got a call from a robotic voice saying it was HMRC. They mentioned I'd supposedly had a letter sent to me that got returned and warned me that they'd take legal steps if I didn’t act. Then they told me to press 1 if I wanted to speak to an official. Right away, I figured HMRC wouldn’t be texting from a mobile or using a machine voice like that. Clearly, it’s a scam. I didn’t press anything and shortly after, the line just went dead.
