Got a call from someone claiming to be from British Gas, Chris Bennett was his name. He wanted payment right away for a new gas install and service. So many dodgy reasons why the work kept getting delayed, felt like he was just stalling all along. Only after finding this site did I see he’s done this to loads of people. Proper fool I was to hand over the money first. Lesson learnt: always wait till the job’s finished before paying, a proper tradesman knows how it works.

I paid for new bathroom fixtures ages ago, and the guy never bothered to show up. He’s constantly coming up with one excuse after another. I ended up having to get a County Court Judgment against him, but he just laughed it off. No sign of a refund, either, and it’s stirred up a whole load of family issues due to his behaviour. Now, after six long months of pursuing him, he’s turned aggressive and starts making threats.

It’s frustrating that the police don’t seem to want to help, and Action Fraud is pretty much the same story. On the bright side, his bank has shut down his account, but they claimed he had already withdrawn all the funds, so there’s nothing left to recover.

Is there any way to seek protection from vile individuals like this?

Absolute nightmare! Some scumbag ripped off a mate by promising a service and then just vanished without doing anything or giving the money back. Because of this, my friend had to call off their daughter’s wedding. The bank said they couldn’t help since the payment was made willingly, and the police didn’t really seem bothered. It’s shocking how hard it is to find justice. They even got a CCJ against him, but he just completely ignored it. So frustrating!

Over the last week, I've been inundated with calls from this number, ringing me incessantly. It appears to be a scam artist targeting elderly folks, masquerading as a certified plumber. He claims to be Chris Bennett, hailing from Birkenhead. Be warned!
