Got a call from some call centre in the east, claiming they could slash my landline bill, throwing in free this and that. Said they were from BT, but I’m not even with BT! Said they needed to update my direct debit. Made them wait while I fumbled for my bank card, then said they probs didn’t need any details since they already had them. Explained to them that you don’t need to cancel and start a new DD just to change the amount. They sounded a bit fed up by then, so I told them I knew it was a scam and they just hung up on me.
