This comment here is quite the eye-opener. I reckon the folks over at 'action fraud' will definitely wanna see this!! Just search for 'action fraud', go to the 'police.uk' website and have a look through the pages. You might have to file it as a crime since the bit for reporting suspected scams looks like it’s not working right now.

I’ve received that exact same email around 15 times in just a handful of days, total SCAM, don’t open it! How come they’re allowed to keep doing this? Our email got hacked three separate times this year, and every time they tried sending emails to our clients asking for payments and deposits for jobs. They almost tricked a few people too.

Funny enough, the email was signed as Brain! Forums like this are honestly one of the few ways we’ve got to fight back against these scammers.

Just like a lot of others here, I received an email on my work account from someone called Leonard asking for a quote. He sent an attachment that had a link to a "short description of the job." I replied saying we don’t open links and asked if he could send any info as an attachment instead. Leonard then answered back saying he didn’t know us and that his email must have been hacked. I looked up the number from the first email and that’s how I ended up here. This is exactly why I never click on links from people asking for quotes!!

I didn’t open or click on any links. It started with a “Good Morning,” and asked if I could provide a quote for some work attached, mentioning I was recommended for it. They also wanted to know when I’d be free for a site visit. Just got an email from someone called Alton Bedward, using the address beddalton@hotmail[###]. Here’s what it said: Morning, You’ve been recommended for this job. Could you please send a quote for the attached details? Also, let me know when you’d be free to come take a look. I did click on a link in the email, but it just led to a Hotmail login page, so I didn’t go any further or ring the mobile number they left. Fingers crossed I haven’t caused any harm by clicking it - I really should have been more careful, it just took me by surprise!
