I was interested in a Fiat 500 listed on eBay by user heworethe10, item number 251515196304. The seller invited me to travel all the way to Edinburgh by train, promising to meet me there and offering to cover my return fare if I decided not to buy the car. I ended up paying £104 for the outbound journey, which took about four hours. When I got there, there was no sign of him and no answer to my calls despite trying repeatedly. After waiting around for two hours, I had to purchase a return ticket during peak times, which set me back £212. Being a pensioner, spending £326 altogether was really tough, not to mention the anxiety and frustration of wasting a whole day travelling. I really thought I could trust him, but now I just feel so silly.

I booked a car and was supposed to pick it up in Edinburgh, flew from Gatwick and all. Ended up paying for the flights and the bloke just switched off his phone and didn't turn up at all. I was stuck there with no way to sort it out and had to shell out another £200 to get a flight back, basically for no reason. Totally gutted - wasted £400 on flights to Edinburgh for nothing.
