Got a text thing from Halifax sayin some payment was tried on a new gadget. It told me I should stop it by goin on to some weird link if it wasnt me. Totally a con, I aint got any Halifax account at all!

This smells like a phishing scam so don’t tap on any links. If you use Halifax, best to log in straight through their official website or give your local branch a ring to be safe.
