This number called me claiming to be from Amazon, saying there was a suspicious purchase on my account of a mobile phone costing about £700 and they’d temporarily frozen it. The caller had a distinct Indian accent. When I asked if it was usual for them to call from a mobile number, they said yes, because it was urgent and involved a big purchase. I asked his name - he gave me something like Barry - then asked where he was based. I jokingly mentioned that I worked as a fraud officer at Amazon, which made him chuckle before he quickly ended the call.
