I received a text message on my mobile, even though my number is registered with the Telephone Preference Service! The message goes: "Get rid of your debts! Start your application today and benefit from a new government settlement order. Reply YES to find out more." Has anyone else experienced something similar? I'm really concerned about our privacy being trampled on like this. How on earth do these companies obtain our personal contact details? My mobile number starts with +44, so it’s evident I’m in the UK.

Is it wise to shoot off an opt-out message to someone who is spamming your email? Surely that might just confirm that there's a real person at the other end of that digital correspondence, serving to legitimise their tactics? It seems rather nonsensical for individuals to fork out money just to send a cancellation notice when their number was probably plucked at random from a list. I'm genuinely curious-if anyone's taken the plunge to "opt out" when faced with a faceless entity or scammer, I'd love to hear how it all unfolded!

Received a dodgy text earlier today, and I must say, we’re quite vigilant about not allowing our personal details to be passed around. It’s strange, as this is the first unsolicited message we’ve had in ages, despite having the same phone number for over five years! It’s baffling how these things can slip through the cracks, particularly when the Telephone Preference Service (TPS) is supposed to protect us. No business should be able to use your information without proper consent, right? Just wondering if anyone else has a clue about who might be behind this?

We received one of these dodgy messages today, and to be fair, we're quite strict about keeping our personal information under wraps. It's frustrating to think that this was merely another scam attempt. Honestly, it was the most ridiculous text we've ever received, considering we've had this phone number for at least the past five years! Even with the Telephone Preference Service not being in the mix, there's no way the company should be allowed to misuse our details like this. Has anyone got a clue about who might be behind it?
