Got a text from someone saying “Hi Mum, hope you’re well. Can you call me on this new number? We had a break in today, it’s been awful!” Felt a bit off, might be a scam or something, so I didn’t reply straight away.

On the night of 21/04/24, my other half got a message saying...Hey Dad, hope you’re alright. Can you call me on this new number? Had a break-in earlier and it’s been a nightmare. I’ve been caught up in it. DO NOT SEND ANY CASH!!! Luckily, my bank’s already looking into it and they’re treating the fraud very seriously. With all the phishing, vishing, smishing going about, these cyber crooks are getting craftier by the day!

On the evening of 20th April 2024, my partner got a message that began with "Hi Mum, hope you’re alright." It went on to say to call this new number, mentioning they’d had a terrible break-in that day. We didn’t bother to ring back since it wasn’t connected to our kids in any way. I reckon they send these to loads of people, hoping someone will fall for it and get tricked.
