Someone rang me claiming to be a Hewlett Packard tech. I’d been struggling with my HP printer and searching for fixes when a popup from HP popped up asking for my phone number. After I gave it, the “technician” called to say my computer had a Trojan virus that was messing with my WiFi. He said I needed to buy a special program for £149.99 to get rid of it. I told him I already had antivirus software, and the moment I didn't go for the costly software, he lost interest in the printer troubles altogether.
