I received a call purporting to be from the Amazon Prime support team, claiming their office was located at 81 Newgate Street in London. The chap on the other end had a South Asian accent, which made it a bit tricky to catch everything he said, so I can't quite recall the name he used. He insisted that my mobile number and banking details were somehow being misused in the Californian mountains to breach my Amazon Prime account. He proceeded to tell me that I needed to log into a computer to establish a customer ID reference number, which he said was essential to secure my account. However, I felt something was off since I don’t actually have an Amazon Prime membership; my wife does, but it's linked to a different mobile number even though we use the same credit card. I decided against logging onto a PC or sharing any personal details. Instead, I told him I would contact Amazon Prime directly, as I suspected it might be a scam. He then had the audacity to accuse me of wasting *his* time!
