Got a dodgy WhatsApp message claiming to be from my son. He’d been using a different number since his phone was knackered. At first, the message seemed genuine with a proper hello, but then they asked me to send money for a bill, promising he’d pay me back soon. I should’ve called his usual number to double-check, but it didn’t cross my mind. Luckily, the bank spotted something fishy with the payment and froze it before anything happened.
