Received a call claiming there were issues with my internet connection, so I inquired about the specifics. The person on the other end mentioned that I was apparently not receiving the appropriate speed for my service. Before she could elaborate, I chimed in, mentioning that I'd already performed a speed test and everything seemed to be running smoothly. When she probed for the exact figures, I simply replied it was anywhere from decent to splendid. At that point, she abruptly hung up on me.

Got a call from a girl speaking with an Indian-American accent, sounded really stressed and said she was from Amazon fraud team. She told me someone in California was using my account to buy an iPhone 11 for £700. She asked if I’d had any emails from Amazon, kept telling me to refresh my inbox, then asked if I’d got a text, and sure enough one came through. Both messages had a one-time code for my Amazon account. From what I read from Amazon, best thing is to just hang up and ignore. The number was 07957223093.

Like others have mentioned, I did end up pressing 1 and got through to a representative. At first, they posed some seemingly reasonable questions, like whether anyone else has access to my card. However, the moment they asked for the name of my bank, I thought, hang on a minute! If this chap was truly legitimate, he wouldn’t need to ask for such fundamental information! That's when I decided to cut the call short.

I'm pretty sure this was a scam. They claimed someone was trying to withdraw £600 from my account and asked me to confirm my bank sort code to stop it. When I said I wasn’t comfortable, they kept insisting I give it to them. I told them I’d call the bank myself because I wasn’t convinced they were legit, and then they just ended the call.

Looking at some of these comments, it’s shocking how many people naively hand over personal info to unknown callers. Those scammers rake in millions tax-free like this. Even though these frauds have made headlines for years, some still get caught out. Don’t ever confirm your name, and never share details like IP addresses just because of a random call or text. Plain daft! If your bank rings, don’t just hang up, but don’t pick up straight away either. Wait until your line’s clear then ring them back on the number on your card.

Got a call saying a 600 quid charge showed up on my Visa from abroad. They said if I wanted to block or approve it, I should press 1. They mentioned the call was recorded too. I didn't press anything and they just ended the call.
