Got a text from “Tax Refund (Inland Revenue)” but I keep receiving calls from a robocaller saying press 1 for more details. The strange bit is the number usually shares the first 8 or 9 digits with my own phone number. One of my workmates told me he’s getting the exact same message too, and the first 8 or 9 digits match his number as well. Weirdly, we're on totally different networks, his is O2 and mine’s Three.

I’ve been receiving loads of texts from a number claiming to be the Tax Refund (Inland Revenue), but then I also get calls with a robotic voice telling me to press 1 for more details. Weird thing is, the number usually starts with the same first 8 or 9 digits as my own phone number. My mate at work is getting the exact same sort of message, but the number matches the beginning of his phone number instead. Funny enough, we're on totally different networks, mine with O2 and his with Three.
