I got a recorded call telling me HMRC have started a tax fraud investigation against me and that I need to press 1 to speak with them, otherwise I’d be facing arrest. These calls are definitely scams. I’ve had similar automated messages from unknown numbers before, and I always just hang up immediately. You can check the HMRC community forums too, loads of people have said it’s a fraud.
