Got a robocall pretending to be my bank. They said to hit 1 to approve a £600 payment! I didn’t press anything so it just hung up.

Got a recorded message saying "a transaction of £600 50 mins ago on your Visa or Mastercard might be fraud. Press 1 to approve." Then it just hangs up if you don't press anything. Definitely a dodge, cos a legit alert would mention which exact card it is, and probably repeat the info or give more choices.

This group is pushing Individual Voluntary Arrangements (IVAs), which are basically a way to manage unsecured debt by paying back part of it while the rest gets wiped clean. They claim it’s a government-backed scheme but the only real connection to the government is that it goes through the Insolvency Service, which is a government body. The creditors have to vote to approve writing off some of your debt, so if they refuse, it won’t happen at all. Don’t be misled - it’s mainly a clever way for the IVA firms to make a profit.
