I got a call from someone with a thick Asian accent who said they were from BT and that there was some dodgy activity on my internet account. They asked me a few tech questions then just hung up on me. The number showed up on my phone as "international" even though it was supposedly from a UK mobile. Lately, I've been getting loads of calls like this, and when I looked into it, they all came from different UK mobiles, never the exact same number twice. Feels like these scammers are stepping up their tactics.
