Just got a message saying "hi mum, it’s me with a new number." I didn’t reply, just blocked the number straight away. Funny enough, something very similar happened to my dad a few years back and he ended up believing it was actually me. He even deleted my real number and saved the scammer’s instead. Not sure what they want exactly but I guess it’s some sort of trick to scam money by pretending to be your kids.

My daughter just got a new phone and already we’re getting calls from dodgy numbers. It’s such a hassle dealing with these unsophisticated scams on what’s meant to be her brand-new handset. Really puts you off.
