I just got a call from 07916253284, and the caller said she was from the local council’s finance team. She told me I owed £800 for rent and that if I didn’t pay it today, I’d be evicted. She asked for my bank account number and sort code to set up a direct debit. I told her I already have a direct debit with the council, but she kept insisting she needed my bank details to sort out the unpaid rent. I ended the call, saying I’d check with the council myself. When I rang the council, they said this was a scam and advised me to block the number immediately.
