I got a call from someone claiming to be from the National Insurance Fraud Department. Apparently, my NI number had been used in multiple crimes and they threatened to suspend it and involve the police. The bloke said his name was George, but when I asked for his full name, he suddenly said Arthur Dawson. He tried to get me to give my NI number, but I pointed out he should already have it since he called me. He didn’t even know my name! I spent the rest of the call explaining how scams like this operate, and eventually, he admitted it was a scam.
