On Friday 26th August around dinner time, this guy called me but his English was really bad. From what I caught, he mentioned something about citizen's advice. When I asked him to repeat, he just hung up. Then when I tried calling him back, the number was already switched off. How do they even manage to do that?

Got calls from this number on my phone two days running. Didn’t pick up since I didn’t know who it was. Looked up the number and saw the reviews, so I’ve blocked it now. How do these lot even get hold of your digits? Hard to believe it’s from a normal mobile number. Proper sneaky stuff.

Honestly, I don't get why the cops can’t catch these scumbags!! They’re absolute con artists and really nasty too - but I reckon some vulnerable folks might get pressured into falling for their tricks!

Some bloke called saying he was from a ‘government agency’ about a ‘debt’ of more than £5,000, claiming to have my name, address, and phone number. I told him to send me proof of the info he had on me. I didn’t admit to anything or give out any details. He kept saying he was trying to help. I told him he’d better be registered under Data Protection since he’s got so much personal info on me, and that I wanted to see it all under the Data Protection Act. After that, he said he’d send it over, said goodbye, and just hung up!

When I pushed back, they got really aggressive! Used loads of nasty swear words and was downright nasty. Kept dropping the F bomb all the time, proper awful person. Claimed I owed money and apparently knew all my bank details. I asked for specifics and he threatened to just withdraw money from my accounts! Then said he'd keep ringing me from different numbers every day if I reported him. Honestly, someone more vulnerable could be deeply hurt and frightened by that kind of behaviour!

Some bloke said he was from the Office of Fair Trading, asked for my birth date and who I owed cash to. I wouldn’t give him any info. Then he said I wasn’t being serious, but I told him I’d only trust written proof or something official. He then said I’d get a letter after next Monday and that some guy called Michael would come knocking on Friday or Monday, threatening to smash my door in and take £10,000. If I didn’t have that money, he said they’d come and take stuff instead.

Dont give them any details - they claimed they got my info from the FSA Financial Services Authority saying I owed unsecured debts. I asked for a reference number or file ID - they just couldnt provide one. The woman said her name was Lisa and she had a weird foreign accent. I have no debts and actually work at a firm that cooperates with the FSA - they wouldnt act like this at all.

Just got a call from this number, saying they were from a debt collection agency. They claimed to have got my details from the Citizens Advice. I was a bit thrown off coz he knew my last name but I hadn’t shared anything with them. He said I owed over £5000, which isn’t true since all I’ve got is a current overdraft. Got a call at 2 in the afternoon on 24th August 2016 from someone with a foreign accent claiming to be from the Citizens Advice Bureau, talking about some Government Charity Scheme. I played along and asked her to repeat herself a bunch of times coz I couldn’t catch what she was saying. Then I told her no thanks, seemed like a scam to me - she just laughed and I hung up! I reckon it’s because I recently signed up for some Facebook trial offer. The old saying ‘if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is’ really fits here.
