2 yearsThis bloke set up a fake profile on dating sites, pretending he’d lost his wife and has a 5-year-old son living with his aunt. He said he was working in Africa and would be back in November 2024. Out of nowhere, he claimed both his bank accounts were frozen and asked me to download some tap tap app to help send money over because supposedly he had no food or fuel. I was suspicious from the start and played along a bit just to see where it’d go. Stayed sharp, never handed over any personal details, then reported him and blocked him. He was way too flattering and lovey-dovey right off the bat, even shared his phone number. When I added him, the name he gave didn’t match up again. Totally felt like a romance scam, especially when he started talking about a family emergency to get sympathy. I ended up blocking him.
