Today, at about 8:08 in the morning, my landline rang. After a brief silence, the call went through to a busy call centre. The man who answered asked for me by name. When I asked who he was, he said he was Allan Burgess from HMRC but spoke with an Indian accent. I told him I was on the TPS list and that I was aware of scams pretending to be from HMRC. He seemed surprised and hung up straight away.
