Got a message earlier claiming a direct debit was arranged with Santander for £341.37 going to Mercedes-Benz Finance. Problem is, I don’t even have an account with Santander. Looks like a total scam to me. The text gave a dodgy link to click on to stop the payment - definitely something to avoid!

I received a rather peculiar message that read, "Hello Mum, I've had a mishap with my phone; it's gone for a swim in the loo, and I'm currently using a mate's device to reach you." This certainly strikes me as a scam, considering I don’t have any little ones at this point in my life!

Just got this message: ‘Hey Mum, my phone broke coz I dropped it, so I'm using a mate's phone but it's nearly dead. Text me on my new number 07985546862 x’ Thing is, I’m not anyone's mum, so I’m certain this is some kind of scam.

I received a text from +44 7752 771409, but I reckon this isn’t the scammer’s actual phone number. These days, spoofing numbers is way too easy unless the phone providers seriously tighten things up. The message followed that typical scam style: "Hey mum, my phone's broken... please contact me on my new number..." They want you to reply to 07904 348172, which is definitely a dodgy number to watch out for.
