My mum, who’s quite old, just got a dodgy text about statins. She deleted it but didn’t block the number since I’m not sure if it’s a spoofed one. If anyone needs statins, always check with your GP and never tap on random links! I’m going to keep an eye on her texts now. Stay cautious, everyone!

Got a message saying their phone system’s down and they can’t take calls while the engineers fix it. They said to book appointments at the reception instead. They never said who it was, but I’m guessing it’s my GP. I looked at their Facebook page and loads of folks are moaning about not being able to get through on the phone, so it seems pretty genuine.

Got a message claiming the doctors needed to update my details and asked if I’m male, female or other. I’ve been seeing these doctors for over 55 years, they must already know my gender! Didn’t bother replying, just blocked the number straight away.

Just to follow up on my previous post - I got a message from the Practice Manager at "The Docs." They said that, even though their site suggests otherwise, this number isn't just theirs. It’s actually shared among a few different practices, maybe something to do with EMIS or similar systems? Apparently, the actual sender of that message is "The New Collegiate MS" located at 407 Cheetham Hill Road, Cheetham, Manchester M8 0DA. Good to have that sorted!

They use a system called MJog, which lets the surgeries quickly send messages to lots of patients about things like flu jabs or COVID info. When you reply, your message goes directly to your own GP practice. Any links in the texts are put there by the surgery staff, so they should be legit and safe to click.

Got a text saying I need a coronavirus test, telling me to ring 119 or click a link, supposedly from my GP. I rang my surgery first, and the receptionist said just to follow the steps and that loads of others had been ringing about the same thing. I chose to call 119 instead of using the link, but they seemed confused about why I got the text. In the end, I got the test ordered from them. This feels like a total scam - definitely don’t click on that link or ring the mobile number they send!

Some bloke with an Indian accent called pretending to be from Amazon Prime. He said someone had tried to log into my account loads of times. Then he told me to press 1 to protect my account. When I asked him to send the verification details via email instead, he said no, couldn’t do it for security reasons. Seemed pretty dodgy to me.

I can assure you, there's nothing dodgy about this number. When I rang it up, I got a voicemail stating that the number was non-existent. However, the receptionist at my doctor’s office confirmed that it's a legitimate number used for sending out automated messages from the NHS. Several NHS Trusts use this service to pass on regular updates to their patients, so it’s all above board.

Got a text about coronavirus with a link to what looked like a gov.uk site. Seemed dodgy so I didn’t bother checking it out and just deleted it straight away. Probably some sort of scam.
