Got a dodgy text from this number pretending to be HMRC, claiming I'd paid too much tax and was owed a refund. Doesn't seem right to me at all.

I got a text saying it was from hmrc about some "tax rebate". It didn’t seem right at all - looks nothing like an official message. As far as i know, they normally send a letter or maybe an email, not a text. Plus, i’m just a student and don’t even pay tax, so it was pretty obvious it was a scam.
