Got a few calls from this number. I picked up thinking it was someone I knew since it looked like a regular mobile. Turns out it was an Indian guy who just asked for my name. I told him, then he just said bye and hung up. Bit strange since he didnt ask anything else. Decided to block the number now. ???

This bloke rang me thrice saying he was with the Financial Conduct Authority and that I had unpaid debts (totally false). From my past dealings, I knew straight away he wasn’t from the FCA and ended the call. Honestly, pretending to be from the FCA should be as serious as impersonating a police officer. As for any helpful info? The guy’s just a fruitloop.

Been getting calls from them non-stop. I picked up today since it showed as a mobile and it seemed like it might be work-related. Same story as loads of others tho. They said I owed money on credit cards I'd never had. I just laughed and told 'em flat out I don't own credit cards. Then they switched and said it was about a loan. I’ve gone through most of the comments here and had a similar experience myself. I never shared any of my info though. I did report the number to Tesco Mobile, who I’m sure aren’t keen on their numbers being used for scams. They took note and said their specialised team will investigate. They suggested I block the number using apps like True Caller, but I don’t have any apps installed on my phone. I asked if they could block it for me, but sadly they said they can’t do that on their side.

I told him what he said, £5000, and then he reckoned it must actually be even more! Eventually, I told him I had no debt at all. That’s when he called me a right mother f##ker and said I was wasting his time. What a cheeky git. Kinda wish I’d kept him on the line a bit longer just for the laugh.

This number is from India, and if you mention you work for the police (bit of a fib), they get proper nasty and start shouting loads of abuse. Turns out it’s linked to Tesco’s messaging service.
