My parents got a message on WhatsApp from this number, supposedly their son saying he’d lost his phone and was using a new one. He asked them to send money to cover some bills. Unfortunately, they ended up losing close to £1000. If you or anyone you know has been caught out by this, please report it so others don’t fall victim too. Really hope the person behind this awful scam is found and faces the consequences.

This number popped up on my WhatsApp too. Luckily, I figured out it was dodgy before I even saved it. Proper freaky stuff!

My elderly mum got a whatsapp message from someone pretending to be their son or daughter, saying they had a new phone number. They asked her to send money to cover bills. Unfortunately, she ended up losing £1275 to this scam. If you get anything like this, make sure you report it to Action Fraud.
