Got a call on my home phone from an unfamiliar number so I didn’t pick up, let it go to voicemail instead. The message was from a woman’s automated voice claiming to be from my bank, saying there were two attempted transactions - one for £99 and another for a bigger sum. It told me to press 1 to approve or 2 to talk to someone. It’s so irritating and such a hassle, especially when you know it’s just a scam. Makes me dread thinking about how easily someone else could fall for it.

This is the sixth time I've had a call on my home phone this week, all saying something along the lines of: "I'm calling from BT regarding some unusual signals detected on your internet." Today’s caller was a man with an Asian accent and was very forceful. When I told him I wasn’t interested, he got quite rude and persistent. It feels like this scam is really ramping up lately, with loads of people getting the same calls.
