I got a text message on my mobile saying something like: 'HSBC SECURITY ALERT: Transfer attempt paused to new payee. Cancel at [#]newpay-review[###]/hsbc if unsure.' I clicked the link straight away and it asked me to enter my HSBC login details right away. That felt off because HSBC never sends links straight to login pages. I didn’t enter anything and instead logged in on my computer separately to check my account. The phone number didn't appear anywhere on HSBC’s official site, so I rang them up. They told me straight away it was a scam text.
