Received a message at 17:31 on 5th August 2010 saying, "FREEMSG! Congratulations from ADVANCEPLUS! You’ve been pre-approved for a £750 loan, which can be yours today! Head over to AdvancePlus.co.uk to finalise your application. Text QUIT 505 if you'd rather not receive any more of these." It appears to be from a legitimate site, yet I really would prefer not to get these messages anymore!

We've received a message from Advance Plus regarding a loan we never signed up for. They're instructing us to text 'stop 505' to opt out, but of course, they haven’t clarified what exactly we’re opting out of! Is this some sort of scam? If we reply, will they leave us in peace or are we just opening a can of worms?

It seems we've been hit with some sort of unsolicited message about a pre-plus Re loan that we've never even applied for! They sent us a "Stop 505" text, which supposedly allows us to opt-out, but doesn’t clarify that this will actually put an end to the messages. To me, it smells like a scam. If we respond, are they just going to keep bothering us, or are they likely to back off? It’s rather perplexing!

We've experienced that as well. Any tips on how to stop these messages from coming through?
